The Book

Since you were little, stories have put you at ease, put you on alert, made you listen, taught you something, encouraged you, made you laugh and even made you cry. That’s powerful stuff — and stories can do the same thing with customers.

Storytelling is a powerful way to build your brand. When it comes to marketing and sales, the most successful brands have something in common: they tell a story.

There are a ton of storytelling books available. This one was written to be an easy read with actionable content, including a “Considerations” section at the end of each chapter that you can use to help you build your brand storybook.

Grab a notebook, read the chapters, build your brand storybook, and take your business to the next level!

The Reviews

“The Art of Brandtelling: Brand Storytelling for Business Success, is quality advice”

As a CEO for 40-plus years, I have been involved in a wide variety of Public Relations, Strategy, Branding, Marketing and Business Development activities. I am not an expert on these topics, but I have made enough mistakes and had enough positive results to know the difference between quality advice and gobbledygook. Arthur Germain’s new book, The Art of Brandtelling: Brand Storytelling for Business Success, is quality advice.

In particular, The Art of Brandtelling: Brand Storytelling for Business Success, helped me with the following five takeaways:

  1. His perspective. Arthur is not a typical marketing guy but a former business and technology editor who looks through the lens of an editor. He always challenges clients about their announcements and marketing materials: Why this? Why now? Who cares? Who are we trying to influence? When Arthur’s book taught me this perspective, I felt like I had just gotten new eyeglasses.

  2. Arthur taught me what a brand is and is not. A brand is not your corporate identity, not your logo, colors, typefaces and image choices, not your promotional material, not your website. This was shocking, as I have spent big money on people who told me this was my brand. Arthur says your brand is the promise that you are making to your intended audience. Wow, this is must-read stuff.

  3. Storytelling is an immensely powerful way to build your brand. These stories should be memorable, easy to share and build trust and loyalty. The Art of Brandtelling tells you how to do this.

  4. Arthur’s book forces you to dig deep to define your customer base and adapt a brand voice that your ideal client will hear. I mean Dah!

  5. I could do 20 more points, but let me just share one more, as this ChatGPT has been a source of significant disagreement amongst my marketing team. Arthur answers the question “How to use ChatGPT but not lose your authentic voice?” You must read this chapter.

I discovered a lot of value from The Art of Brandtelling: Brand Storytelling for Business Success. I recommend you read it. Then, like I did, read it again.

“This stuff works. Telling stories is how we have always communicated… Buy this book. ”

As his daughter likes to point out, Arthur Germain truly is the “Art” of Brandtelling. He owns the trademark to the name “Brandtelling,” but, more than that, the use of storytelling to help organizations define, renew and communicate their brands has been his long-term passion and personal commitment. Said another way: “Brandtelling” is who Arthur Germain is.

I’ve known Arthur as a friend and co-worker for more than 20 years, and, in that time, I’ve seen, and sometimes helped him, develop, refine and implement Brandtelling strategies for organizations of all sizes. This stuff works. Telling stories is how we have always communicated. All the latest technology will not help you communicate who you are to your employees or your market until you are able to express it effectively in a story.

Buy this book. The Art or Brandtelling is the most readable, thoughtful, entertaining and executable presentation of how to use The Art of Brandtelling to build your brand and grow your business that you will find today. You’ll also get to know my good friend Arthur Germain.
